The
three keys to a successful LAN wiring installation are proper
design, quality materials, and good workmanship. Proper design
involves several complex factors which include the length of cable
run, wire type, wire terminations, and most of all routing. Magnetic
fields from fluorescent light fixtures can cause many problems, they
should always be avoided when running cable in ceilings. Cable runs
should never run parallel to electrical wires, bent on 90 degree
angles, stapled without insulators, tie - wrapped tightly stretched
too tight, or cinched. Don't forget the wiring coming out of your
wall plate is also part of your network. It should not be tied
around your desk, stepped on, or left underneath the wheels of
your chair.
